Stage shows, sports events and conferences/trade fairs – bring them on! L’Arena, the first new-generation multipurpose, opens its doors in Montpellier in September 2010.

Construction on L’Arena, a huge multipurpose arena, began in November 2008 on the site of the Montpellier Exhibition Centre. The project is sponsored by the Languedoc-Roussillon Region in partnership with the Montpellier Urban Area and the City of Montpellier. ENJOY Montpellier is responsible for the project’s management and marketing.

Offering 3 possible configurations:

• up to 14,000 concert spectators

• gross floor area of 12,500 m² for trade fairs and exhibitions

• seating up to 10,000 spectators as a sports area

• seating for between 2,500 and 7,500 conference delegates, the new facility offers modular capacity and all the latest high-tech features.

The opening date is set for 8 September with a concert starring Indochine. The ATP 250 World Tour tennis series moves from Lyons to kick off the sports programme at L’Arena, from 25 to 31 October.

The conference-exhibition sector was the first to try out L’Arena: in December 2009, SITEVI, the international exhibition for the vine-wine and fruit-vegetable sectors, booked 10,000 m² of space at L’Arena.
